It is not accidentally that I asked in the title whether you like giving examples. This is exactly what you will need to do while writing an illustration essay. By the way, illustration essay is also called an example essay, since you have to illustrate your thoughts with bright and relevant examples. Thus, if you are assigned an illustration essay, be ready to give such examples.
What is more, the skills of making the illustrations will come in handy in your future essays. Almost all the types of the essays need good examples that will back up your points of view.
Say, you need to write your essay on some stereotypes. Let us take such a stereotype: Russia is a country where everybody drinks vodka, wears fur-caps and the bears are walking along the streets.
This is a common stereotype among people living in the West. And this stereotype can be easily disproved. Have you ever been to Moscow or any other big city? Have you seen those people, cars, supermarkets? By the way, even not very big cities do not look like they are described in all the stereotypes about Russia.
If you need some good examples, it is better, of course, to go there and see it. If you do not have this opportunity, you can give some other illustrations. For instance, you can tell about amazing Russian movies that are nominated to Oscar. You may consider Russian athletes, figure-skaters, who win the golden medals in the international competitions. Finally, you may consider Russian president. Although he is accused of having imperialistic ambitions, this is a man of principle, who made all the Russians be proud of their country.
